Billing hospitalisation

BILLING

Your invoice will be sent to you via post within a month following your discharge or the end of the month in which you receive the care in the case of outpatient visits.

PRIVATE HEALTH INSURANCE AND COPAYMENT

AS REGARDS HOSPITALISATION

If you meet insurability requirements, and provided that we are in possession of correct information on your private health insurance, Europe Hospitals provides the option of co-payment, i.e. the part reimbursed by your private health insurance is sent directly to them so that you only have to pay your part.

AS REGARDS PERSONALISED CARE RECEIVED

This relates to costs incurred by the hospital in your favour (food, medications, special techniques, etc.) which, with respect to the laws, are not reimbursable within the framework of the state social security programmes which cover illness and disability.

OTHER ORGANISATIONS AND OCCUPATIONAL ACCIDENTS

Unless the hospital agrees to cover the costs related to your occupational accident, you are responsible for settling this bill and forwarding it to the relevant organisation for reimbursement.

Note that you continue to be indebted to us until the invoice is paid.

ADDRESS

The address displayed on this invoice is the one provided during your admission. Any change in address should be reported to the Europe Hospitals invoicing department. Failing this, research costs may be charged.

DOWNPAYMENTS

With respect to hospitalisation, a down payment is required during your admission to cover the costs that are not reimbursed by the insurers. Additional costs may be incurred if your hospital stay is extended.

Regarding consultation, fees are payable directly at the cashier's office.

PAYMENT TERMS

Unless otherwise agreed upon, the invoices are payable in cash, to the account provided and by means of the attached transfer forms.

Failure to pay on the due date will incur, by right and forthwith, late payment interest set at the statutory rate of interest, and a 15% increase in the unpaid amount, with a minimum of €19 as flat-rate compensation pursuant to article 1152 of the Civil Code.

FLAT-RATE FEES

Pursuant to statutory provisions, we may charge you flat fees for laboratory, radiology, medical assistance for the entire period of hospitalisation, apart from the care provided.

EXTRA FEES

In standard ward rooms, you do not pay extra fees. In private rooms, Europe Hospitals is the first private hospital to limit the extra fees charged to a maximum of 200% since 1 January 2019 in order to ensure access to care under optimal conditions of comfort.

When a patient is hospitalised, he has the choice between a standard ward room or a private room. If he chooses the second option, in some hospitals he would pay up to 300% more in extra fees. This maximum rate of increase is rarely covered by health insurance plans in Belgium. Some insurance companies also require that a deductible be paid for hospitals which charge over 200% more in extra fees.

Europe Hospitals physicians have opted to limit the extra fees charged to a maximum of 200% so that patients who have health insurance will not be obligated to pay a deductible. This guarantees them maximum coverage of the cost of private room care.
