A generous donation to the Friends of the Europa Hospitals Fund
Dr Mathias Colman, shoulder surgeon in our Orthopaedics department, linked his participation in the 8-hour and 25-hour Fun Cup in Spa with the Orhes Racing team to a good cause: he pledged to donate 0.50€ per kilometre travelled by the car to the Friends of the Europa Hospitals Fund. A total of 3,196 kilometres were covered, which amounts to a donation of 1 568€
On this occasion, Dr. Colman presented a symbolic cheque to our Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Peter Fontaine. Many thanks to Dr. Colman and his sponsors (Pako Opticien, Vigo Ottobock Care, ISS, LolaLiza, Dieweg Medical Centre, Dumoulin, Vincent Pneus) for this wonderful initiative, which promotes the values of solidarity within the Europa Hospitals!
This support makes it possible to finance specific projects of the Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation. This fund was established in March 2024 to improve the patient experience within our services.
Projects currently supported by the Fund
• Integrative care pathways in oncology: we want to improve the experience of patients being treated at One Day Oncology at our two hospital sites. By offering them the opportunity to escape for a while during and after their treatment, we want to have a positive impact on their healing process. Our integrated care pathway includes: access to fitness or creative activities, a celebration at the end of treatment, a cocoon kit for their return home, theme days and a varied and up-to-date library.
• Setting up a playroom in Paediatrics: This project involves setting up a new playroom for our paediatric patients by creating a large central space in the heart of the care unit. This space would allow patients and their families to play (have fun and get out of their rooms for a while), connect (play with parents, brothers and sisters) and recharge their batteries (calm down after a difficult period). We want to take into account the specific needs of certain children in the project by creating an inclusive design.

A sporting donation to benefit the Friends of the Europa Hospitals Fund!
Dr Mathias Colman, shoulder surgeon in the Orthopaedics Department, turned his participation in the 25-hour Fun Cup in Spa into a gesture of solidarity: he pledged to donate 0.50€ for every kilometre covered by his Orhes Racing team car.
The result: 3,196 kilometres and a donation of 1 568€ which was symbolically handed over to our General Manager and Managing Director, Peter Fontaine.

This donation will support the projects of the Friends of the Europa Hospitals Fund, managed by the King Baudouin Foundation, in particular:
• the integrative care pathway in oncology,
• and the creation of a new playroom in Paediatrics.
