Getting ready for the hospital (pediatrics)

Dear parents,

Soon, your child will be admitted to the Europe Hospitals. The paediatric hospitalisation unit is located in the St Elisabeth site, in Uccle. The surgery will also be performed there. Below, we explain to your child what will happen exactly and what he/she should take with him/her for the big day.

LIST OF ITEMS TO BRING

  • Your favourite soft toy...
  • Your slippers
  • Books, games

Your parents must bring:

  • Your identity card
  • Results of medical examinations (if any)
  • The completed pre-operation question form, if you have received such a form.

HOW CAN YOU PREPARE FOR SURGERY?

1. Visit your specialist :

 He/she can answer all your questions.

2. Visit the Bambi service department (a day hospital service)

They are located on the 2nd floor.

Opening hours: Monday to Friday, from 09:00am until 05:00pm. From 15 March until 15 September only from Monday to Wednesday and on Fridays.

Before surgery, your child can come to have a blood sample taken.

You will have to fast, meaning you may not eat or drink, as of midnight the night before the surgery.
