Phototherapy

Dynamic phototherapy is a new non-invasive therapeutic alternative for different skin tumours.
Dynamic phototherapy involves the topical application of a photosensitising agent on the tumour to be treated.  During a pre determined period of time, the photosensitising effect accumulates specifically in tumor cells resulting in the destruction of the targeted tissue.

This new technique is particularly useful in the treatment of multiple lesions in areas where localized areas which are difficult to heal and where aesthetic damage is likely if other therapies are used. It is particularly appropriate in patients for whom other therapies are contraindicated.

Some skin conditions can be treated by UVA/UVB phototherapy. Sessions take place in a specific booth where dermatologists use controlled equipment that emits specific wavelengths. The skin conditions treated in this manner are mainly psoriasis, generalised dermatitis, sun allergies…
PUVA therapy consists in the radiation of the body by ultraviolet A rays (UVA) following the administration of a photosensitizing agent from the psoralen family.
UVB phototherapy relates to another spectrum, with TLO1 lamps, and does not require the administration of a photosensitizing drug prior to the session.
